I was looking forward to the first St. Pete Beach sunset of 2015, but cloudy skies had me thinking we were in for a less than spectacular show. I reminded myself that, in St. Pete Beach, even cloudy nights usally provide great sunsets. So, I went to an old favorite spot — the rusty old sea wall and rocky pier on Upham Beach — and set up my gear.
Turns out, the clouds did a decent job of keeping the sun at bay. I did get a great show from several pelicans that perched on the rocky pier and sea wall for the sunset, making it all worthwhile.
